In Malaysia, every 31st August is Merdeka Day and it is a national holiday. Malaysia gained its independence from the British Empire on year 1957.
Prior to the event, citizens in Malaysia would raising the Malaysia flag on vehicles, or balcony of their houses in the Merdeka month, which is the whole August.
The celebration during the Independence Day including seven shouts of “Merdeka”, Malaysian Army marching in a parade, performances from school children and et cetera in Dataran Merdeka. Television would also broadcast the live event to citizens.
